Please this is my own experience and the steps I followed to get a permanent Canadian resident as an entrepreneur (self employed) in Nigeria, it won’t work for everyone but it might help some. I am single, self employed, below 30 and I have a Masters degree (this gave me more points).

I wrote my IELTS in March 2021, it was my first time writing it. I studied on my own and I wrote a Band 8.0 . Then I sent my Masters transcript from unilag to WES in April 2021. My evaluation was done June 4th, 2021.

I entered the pool with 475 points by June 13th, 2021 and then it was a long wait/silence till September 14th, 2021. I received a Notification of Interest from Alberta.

I accepted the NOI (notification of Interest) on the 16th of September 2021 and I got a link to submit my application seven days later. Please if you are self employed, be attentive. Basically you need to prove that your business is legit, very legit so please keep your documents.

Requirements and how to Prove that your business is legit for your NOI Province

The first application is to the province that gave you NOI and I had to prove my business was real.

1. I have a functional website
2. I had a business account
3. I have a LinkedIn page for my business
4. I have workers
5. I had payment receipts from suppliers
6. Tax documents (This is very important and one of the easiest way to prove your business is legit.)
7. Business registration certificate
8. Flutter wave statement of account for the website
9. DHL invoices to show deliveries are done

Your account statement should show you earn salary from your business and pay your workers(if you have staff)

The application fee to Alberta was 500 CAD, I submitted on the 7th of October 2021 and got nominated 28th of October 2021. The nomination came with 600 additional points

My points became 1075 after I accepted the nomination. On the 10th of November I got my ITA, did medicals on the 8th of December and then submitted my application on the 4th of January 2022.

Biometrics came in on the 15th of February 2022 and I passed medicals on the same day. On the 25th of April I got PPR. So from January 4th when I submitted my final application to the date I got PPR, it took 3 months and 11 days.
